After a tornado ripped through their hometown of Olla, Louisiana in November 2004, the Stotts took action.

“We saw people who had no place to go.  We got no help from the government and little from the state,” John explained.  “My wife had a burden to begin this ministry to help our community.  I believe that we are one flesh, so I decided to support her in this and did just as she asked.”

The Stotts began discussing their desire with their pastor at Pinehill Baptist Church, and then John visited and shared their burden and desire with other local churches.  Before long, Trinity Community Mission was established.

Haiti Mission Team Update: 

The Medical Team saw three hundred patients today. Each of the three medics saw one hundred patients today. That is an amazing number of patients  but the amazing fact is how these three medics work together to share the love and compassion of Jesus Christ to every one of the patients. They have two nurses that are working with them and together it is obvious the Lord’s hand on this team.

States increasingly are enacting legislation to opt out of a provision in the new federal health care law that would require coverage for abortion in “insurance exchanges.”

Louisiana Baptists are missionary people. We know our commission is to be witnesses to the ends of the earth and we gladly sacrifice to get the gospel beyond our own parishes. However, Louisiana is our special strategic mission. Like Paul, we have relatives and friends, classmates and co-workers, leaders and heroes in Louisiana that need the Lord.

The 2010 Louisiana legislative session came to an end June 21. Both houses of state government were open to consideration of faith and family issues. According to faith and family advocates, this was one of the most successful sessions on record.
